Make It Yours

We live in an Instagram – Pinterest – HGTV – saturated culture which has idealized the “perfect” home. While tackling a major renovation is not for everyone, there are many homes on the market that, with minimal work, could be stylish gems.

PAINT

Paint is the easiest and most affordable update. Give the walls a coat of white paint for a fresh, neutral backdrop for art and furnishings, or go bold and play with richer colors in select rooms, or trim and doors. Painting kitchen cabinets and bath vanities is also a great way to get a new look without an expensive and more invasive renovation. Consider wallpaper for an accent wall or go all the way with walls and ceilings for more drama.

LIGHT FIXTURES & HARDWARE

Adding more modern light fixtures to a dated home can add instant, eclectic style and a more designer look. Changing kitchen and bathroom hardware and handles throughout a house will instantly refresh cabinets and doors and give a more cohesive look. It’s amazing how seemingly small updates will add major style.

STYLING

Of course beautifully designed and renovated homes show nicely, but what’s often most attracting us to beautiful images is the styling – furniture, art and décor. You can take a blank white box and completely transform it into something visually appealing with great pieces. Choose pieces that you love, that you’ve collected over time, and mix more expensive with vintage, second hand, salvage to achieve a designer flair and a home that’s truly yours.
