Tackling a new build offered different challenges and rewards. Minimal unforeseen conditions, less day-to-day problem solving, no demolition and vermin battles was the trade-off for a chasm of infinite possibility with an entirely blank slate, and plenty of room for analysis paralysis. Stick with the plan and don’t f*ck up were daily mantras, while acknowledging that rules are made to be broken, after all.
